Home Mission Statement From Our Clients FAQ's Career Opportunities |
Mission StatementAs a bridge from one culture to another, we commit ourselves to the highest standards of performance, ethical behavior, and business practices. We strive to translate original documents and messages faithfully to satisfy the needs of our customers and acknowledge that our level of excellence requires us to: master the target language equivalent to that of a native speaker; obtain up-to-date knowledge of the subject matter and its terminology in both languages; utilize state-of-the-art resources, reference materials, and tools of our profession; and continue our efforts to improve, broaden, and deepen our skills and knowledge. We are truthful about our qualifications and only accept assignments for which we are fully qualified. We safeguard the interests of our clients as our own and keep all client information confidential. We notify our clients of any unresolved difficulties. We use clients as a reference only when we are prepared to name the contact to attest to the quality of our work. We respect and refrain from interfering with any business relationship between our client and our client's client. As an employer/contractor of translators and interpreters, we uphold the above standards in our business. We further commit ourselves to put our contractual relationship with translators and interpreters in writing and state our expectations prior to Start of Work. We adhere to agreed upon terms, payment schedules, and agreed changes, and do not capriciously change job descriptions after Start of Work. We deal directly with translators and interpreters regarding disputes. We do not use translators' or interpreters' credentials in bidding or promoting our business without their consent or without the bona fide intention to use their services. For translations for publication in periodicals or other similar printed material, we give translators deserved recognition, traditionally given to Authors. As a business, we strive to exceed the expectations of our customers--first and foremost- along with demonstrating the utmost respect for our staff, who are the backbone to our success. How much will it cost? To accurately determine the cost of a translation requires the review of the material and, in some instances, may require some preliminary research. Beware of agencies that "blindly" quote prices without first reviewing the material. 2. What are charges based on? Charges are based on uniqueness of language and type of content. Most translations are based on a rate per word. This rate can range from $0.15 to $0.35 per word. It is important to remember that content type and uniqueness of language both play a key role in determining the rate. Special requests for formatting can also affect cost. For a single page, the price can either be a flat rate, or a "per word" basis. Once again, uniqueness of language and content type will determine this. Please contact our office for more detail. 3. What is the turn around time of a project? Each project is different. The completion of a project will depend on the volume, language, and content type (technical level) of the material to be translated. This can range from days to weeks. 4. What happens if a translation is needed fast? When necessary, our translators are available to work overtime for a quick turnaround of your translation project. If needed, we can assign several members of our team to your project in order to successfully meet your deadline. 5. Can the completed translation be delivered in soft copy? Yes, Exact Communication uses state-of-the-art technology for the benefit of our customers. You can indicate what format the project needs to be created in, whether you would like your document to be delivered in soft or hard copy-or both. We can also e-mail you the soft copy as an Attachment, which is sent directly to your e-mail address. 6. Can I purchase software to translate? Yes, but the results will be much different from the ones made from a professional. Usually the software programs do not cost much, however, the outcome will also be of questionable quality. It requires hours for a professional to edit and rewrite a document. Remember that a document cannot be translated verbatim. Source, target language, and cultural differences cannot be translated by software. In other words, don't rely on software programs alone. Here is a sample sentence for translation by software: "ABC Inc. uses state- of- the- art tools for the construction of our jobs." Translated verbatim by software, to Spanish, would look like this (in English): "ABC Inc. uses tools of art from the state for the construction of our jobs." You take a tremendous risk in using translation software in the case where meaning is crucial. Exact Communication uses expert team members for each translation, based on their profession CV and credentials. We are proud to be the perfect tool in your toolbox, for building the bridge of communication with your customers or employees. 7. Is there such a thing as a "perfect translation" of a defendant's testimony in Court interpreting? Translation is an art more than a science. There is no such thing as a perfect translation of a defendant's testimony. In every case, there will be room for disagreement among translators over some aspects of the translation. Defense counsel, with the assistance of the defendant's own interpreter, is free to object contemporaneously, if counsel believes that the court-appointed interpreter has significantly misinterpreted or omitted parts of the defendant's testimony. We expect our interpreters to be regarded as 'Professionals' among other professionals in court. There are four general rules of behavior we expect from our court interpreters: 1. Interpret the meaning of what is said faithfully; 2. Exercise discretion, professional standards, and respect for the court at all times; 3. Interpret the words and, where appropriate and within the bounds of court procedure, explain cross-cultural differences and difficulties; and 4. Refrain from discussing or commenting on cases, except with colleagues and certain members of court staff. [Top] Career Opportunities Exact Communication, a leader in the Language Services industry,
